A brief clip was shared, revealing that the game will launch on the new console sometime in 2025. Following the success of Hollow Knight, players have been anticipating the sequel since it was announced in 2019. Unlike the first game, this time, fans will take on the role of Hornet, a character who appeared in Hollow Knight on several occasions—sometimes to challenge players, and other times to help them. The sequel will maintain a similar visual style, though it will feature new locales and more challenging bosses.

Hollow Knight Silksong Officially Confirms Another Launch Platform

The team behind Hollow Knight: Silksong confirms another console that will get the game when it finally launches later in 2025.

In the newly released interview from 2018, co-director Ari Gibson told Source Gaming at BitSummit 2018 how important Nintendo’s support had been for Hollow Knight and Team Cherry. He emphasized that, thanks to Nintendo’s backing, the process of bringing the original game to Switch had been very enjoyable. Moreover, co-director William Pellen also commented that the title felt “super nice to play” on the Switch, something that players were able to confirm later. This just-released old interview, revealing Nintendo’s support over the years, may better explain Silksong’s appearance in the Nintendo Direct.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Will Launch on Both Switch and Switch 2

In addition to PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, Silksong will also be available on the Switch 2 and the original Switch. Although crucial details still remain under wraps, fans were recently treated to new screenshots of the highly anticipated Silksong. Among them, players got an updated look at the city of Bellhart, which has seen a transformation since its initial appearance in the 2019 trailer. The Lace fight and the starting room have also been updated, though the latter saw fewer changes than the other two.

2025 is shaping up to be an incredible year for Nintendo fans—not only because of the release of Silksong but also due to the highly anticipated launch of the Switch 2. The new console will be released on June 5 for $449.99 on its own, or $499.99 bundled with Mario Kart World. While players gear up for the release, Silksong is set to arrive sometime in 2025.
