Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Update Adds 2 New Games

Since the start of the month, Microsoft’s subscription service added Borderlands 3: Ultimate Edition, South of Midnight, Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls, and Commandos: Origins—in that order. Descenders Next was also planned to reach Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on April 9 but ended up being hit with a last-minute indefinite delay.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Adds a Day-One Title and an Acclaimed ARPG

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate adds its first day-one title for April 2025, as well as one critically acclaimed action RPG that recently turned 11.

Shortly after Descenders Next was delayed, Microsoft added NHL 25 to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate April 2025 Wave 1 lineup. EA Sports’ ice hockey sim has now made its way to the subscription service on April 10, arriving alongside Blue Prince. NHL 25 can only be played locally on an Xbox Series X/S, as the game was never ported to PC. While NHL 25 needs no special introduction, Blue Prince is a lesser-known quantity, though maybe not for long. The debut title from California-based studio Dogubomb was released for PC and consoles on April 10, debuting to absolutely raving reviews. It currently holds a “Mighty” rating on OpenCritic, derived from an average score of 90 and a near-impeccable 95% reviewer recommendation rate. As such, Blue Prince is currently one of the highest-rated games of 2025. The game itself is billed as a “strategy puzzle adventure” that tasks players with navigating Mt. Holly, a strange manor with an ever-shifting layout, all with the goal of uncovering the secrets of its mysterious Room 46.

When Will Blue Prince Reach Xbox Game Pass Standard?

Since it’s a day-one release, Blue Prince is currently exclusive to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Microsoft’s track record suggests that this critically acclaimed adventure will likely make its way to the Standard tier of the service within 6 to 12 months. Meanwhile, since NHL 25 is only available via the EA Play add-on, it will never be offered to Xbox Game Pass Standard subscribers.

The next XGP catalog expansion is scheduled for April 15, when Grand Theft Auto 5 is coming to Microsoft’s subscription service for the fourth time in five years. Hunt: Showdown 1896 is also coming to PC Game Pass on that date, five months after its Xbox Series X/S version was added to the Ultimate and Standard tiers of the service. April 15 will also see Xbox Game Pass lose seven titles, all of which can currently be picked up at a 20% subscriber discount.
