One helpful and easy-to-replicate Minecraft build shared by a fan online provides a safe place for players to dock their happy ghast companions when not riding them through the skies of their worlds. Happy ghasts are among the most recent content additions confirmed to be coming to Minecraft later this year, and while the new mob won’t officially be coming to the game until this year’s Summer content drop, players can check them out right now in the game’s latest snapshot version.

Revealed during Minecraft LIVE 2025, happy ghasts are a new mob who will be getting an entire content drop all to themselves. Befriending one of these friendly ghasts will first require players to seek out and collect a new Minecraft block found naturally in the Nether – the dried ghast block. Players will alternatively be able to craft the block using a bone block and ghast tears collected from the Nether. Once brought back to the Overworld, the dried ghast can be submerged in water, where it will hydrate over the course of several days and become an adorable, hydrated ghastling. Ghastlings can then be fed with snowballs to grow up into adult happy ghasts.

Minecraft‘s happy ghasts can even be equipped with saddles, affording players a new form of airborne travel. A fan going by the name _N00bMaster69_ has discovered their own solution to the small logistical issue of keeping happy ghasts reliably in one place, so that they can be easily accessed by players. This easily constructed solution functions pretty much as a ghast garage, and is built from nothing more than regular blocks and wall components, although the walls could likely be replaced by fences if needed. When a happy ghast is “parked” within the arrangement of blocks and wall partitions, the mob stays completely still, likely as the result of a pathing bug which may occur due to the enclosed space and peculiar wall collision boxes.

This “Ghast Garage” Makes For a Useful Extension to Any Base

The build doesn’t involve any boats or minecarts, which ordinarily present the go-to methods of trapping any of Minecraft mobs. According to the creator of this design, the configuration completely prevents happy ghasts from moving or turning, presenting the ideal place to store happy ghasts as well as a spot to mount them from. The designer even provided a neat example of how this feature can be integrated into houses and bases.

The happy ghast was quickly met with a ton of anticipation from fans, with some in the community discussing ways that Mojang could potentially build upon the idea of Minecraft‘s happy ghasts, and many others even expressing their appreciation for the adorable ghastlings via artwork of their own. Aside from their friendly faces, fans are excited to use happy ghasts as mobile platforms that will help them work on large-scale builds in survival mode.
