Summary
- World of Warcraft Patch 11.1.5 will have a staggered release schedule, limited-time events, and no new campaign chapters.
- The Nightfall activity will be the only new content available when the patch is released on April 22, with more coming in May and June.
- Fans may see smaller .5 patches and larger .7 patches in the future for World of Warcraft updates.
A staggered release schedule, limited-time events, and the lack of any new campaign chapters are setting up World of Warcraft Patch 11.1.5 to be a lighter content update than what fans are used to. Though players now know World of Warcraft is releasing the next update on April 22, almost half of the patch content won’t be available until many weeks after it arrives.
Recently, World of Warcraft locked down April 22 as the release date for Patch 11.1.5. The update contains some exciting content, including the Nightfall open world activity, Winds of Mysterious Fortune and Dastardly Duos events, the Cooldown Manager UI feature, and a return of the Horrific Visions from Battle for Azeroth.

Overwatch and World of Warcraft Art Director Has Died
Longtime Blizzard art director Bill Petras has passed away, most well-known for his work on World of Warcraft and the Overwatch franchise.
However, almost half of these new activities won’t actually be playable when the patch drops. Horrific Visions Revisited isn’t coming until May 20 – nearly a month after the patch releases – and the Dastardly Duos event doesn’t start until two weeks after that. This leaves the Cooldown Manager, Winds of Mysterious Fortune, and Nightfall scenario as the only features arriving at launch, and with the first two being a quality-of-life UI tool and leveling buff for old World of Warcraft content respectively, Nightfall is the only actual new content that will be available on April 22.
WoW Patch 11.1.5 – Staggered Release, Limited-Time Events, and No Campaign
There has also been no mention of any new story campaign chapters or side quests coming in the update, meaning beyond snippets from the Nightfall scenario, fans shouldn’t expect the narrative of World of Warcraft: The War Within to continue in this update. What’s more, two of these five features – The Winds of Mysterious Fortune and Dastardly Duos – are also both limited-time events, meaning they will not even be readily available to enjoy indefinitely, though they could return in the future.
World of Warcraft Patch 11.1.5 Release Schedule
- April 22: Nightfall Scenario, Cooldown Manager, Winds of Mysterious Fortune
- May 20: Horrific Visions Revisited
- June 3: Dastardly Duos
Of course, there are some other things coming in Patch 11.1.5 as well, including class tuning, updates to the Children’s Week holiday, and a new accessibility option to let WoW players change the color of item rarities. Even so, these individual features don’t make up for this dearth of content, exciting as they are.
Patch 11.0.5 similarly contained no story campaign, and was otherwise mostly focused on the limited-time 20th anniversary event, while Patch 11.0.7 was larger, featuring tons of quests, and even the Siren Isle zone. Patch 11.1.5 seems to be following suit, so if World of Warcraft is setting this as the new precedent, fans might be seeing smaller .5 patches and larger .7 patches from now on.
