Developer Warhorse Studios has confirmed that the highly anticipated Hardcore Mode for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be released next week. While it’s unclear which day the developer intends to release the mode, there’s not long left to go until Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 players can start a brand-new playthrough with an increased difficulty level.
After a hugely successful launch, developer Warhorse Studios has continued to support Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 with plenty of post-launch content. As promised, the game’s first major content update was launched back in March and brought with it a ton of improvements, bug fixes, and quality-of-life adjustments. But it wasn’t just general gameplay changes made in update 1.2, as the game also received a brand-new barber feature. Players can now customize Henry’s appearance with alternative hairstyle options and fresh new beards by visiting one of the two barbers found in Bohemia, and they’ll even receive the temporary Freshly Trimmed buff, which boosts Charisma by 2.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Hardcore Mode Releasing Next Week
If the massive 1.2 update for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 wasn’t enough, Warhorse Studios has now confirmed that the highly anticipated Hardcore Mode will be released next week. The mode will be released for free for all players, likely via a new patch update on both consoles and PC. Although an accurate date wasn’t provided, fans can expect the new update to drop anywhere between Monday, April 14, and Friday, April 18. The last major update was released on a Thursday, so it’s possible that Warhorse may follow a similar schedule and release the mode on Thursday, April 17.
For those who might be unaware of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s upcoming Hardcore Mode, it forces players to choose three out of ten negative perk effects, ranging from increased hunger to a decreased carry weight. These perks will then be permanent for the entire playthrough, alongside some other changes. The game’s UI has also been stripped back in Hardcore Mode, with no player marker on the map and no cardinal directions on the compass, making traveling much more difficult. Fast travel has also been removed, making for a much more realistic experience as players must rely solely on their sense of direction.
The mode has been highly sought after by players ever since the game launched in February. In fact, some fans recently discovered a sneaky way to access Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s Hardcore Mode early thanks to console commands on PC. Although the mode hasn’t been officially released yet, it looks like Warhorse Studios has already included the relevant game files for players to access it via commands. While it wasn’t recommended to play the mode this way due to it likely being an unfinished version, it did give players a sneak peek of what’s to come when the mode finally launches next week.
