Originally launched as a PlayStation 5 exclusive in March 2024, Rise of the Ronin released on PC on March 10, 2025. Assassin’s Creed Shadows Is More Rise of the Ronin Than Ghost of Tsushima

While Assassin’s Creed Shadows has long been compared to Ghost of Tsushima, it’s more like Rise of the Ronin in its gameplay and worldbuilding.

But problems with Rise of the Ronin‘s PC port seem to have only exacerbated any graphical and performance issues already present in the PlayStation 5 version while introducing a few new ones. In response, Team Ninja’s official Twitter account has issued a public apology to players, stating, “We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences that you may have experienced.” This post doesn’t name any specific problems, but players have been quick to list off several in the response section, including high CPU usage and textures that can reportedly take up to 10 seconds to load properly. A patch is planned for release on April 10 to address issues with the game’s performance on PC.

Rise of the Ronin Devs Respond to PC Port Complaints

For some fans of Team Ninja’s catalog of games, the issues surrounding the PC port are signs of an ongoing issue. Back in 2023, players began review bombing Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty over a large variety of bugs that were most prevalent in the PC version of the game. The effect of that initial review bombing can still be felt, as the PC version suffers from mostly negative reactions.

About a year earlier, players also reported performance issues related to render distance, blurred visuals, and frame-rate drops in the PC version of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. While that game received mixed user reviews across all platforms, the average for the PC version is a few points lower than its counterparts on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, though the gap isn’t nearly as wide as it is for Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. The overdesign of characters even led to some players making Stranger of Paradise characters bald to improve performance in one of the more bizarre workarounds for fans trying to fix a game’s shortcomings.
