Pokemon Fan Creates Adorable Halloween Variants for Bulbasaur

Key Takeaways

  • Pokemon fans create festive Bulbasaur designs for Halloween, showcasing creativity & love for the franchise.
  • MunchyKu’s Halloween-themed Bulbasaur designs, which include a pumpkin, clown, ghost, and more, receive praise.
  • Fans excited about potential holiday-themed Pokemon games, showing eagerness for new variants and spins on classic Pokemon.

An artistic Pokemon fan has created a series of Bulbasaur designs that give the Pokemon a spooky Halloween twist. With October rapidly approaching, chances are fans of Pokemon will be seeing more Halloween-themed art in the near future.

Pokemon fans often create pieces of art that turn an established Pokemon into something else. Bulbasaur actually gets quite a bit of attention in this regard, with fans having turned it into everything from a pumpkin to bubble tea. While a pumpkin Bulbasaur is included among this particular fan’s work as well, it’s just one of the many designs they came up with.

Reddit user and Pokemon fan MunchyKu shared some of their latest works, where they gave Bulbasaur a whopping six redesigns to celebrate Halloween. One Bulbasaur is depicted in orange with a pumpkin on its back in place of its bulb, and its mouth shaped like a Jack-o-Lantern’s smile. Bulbasaur has also become a clown, a skeleton, Frankenstein’s monster, a ghost, and a witch. Each design not only changes the overall look of Bulbasaur but swaps out the standard bulb on its back for something else, adding more intrigue to the designs.

Pokemon Fans Want More Costumes and Variants

Fans in the comments have been extremely enthusiastic about MunchyKu’s designs, showering them in praise. All of the designs have been labeled as cute, though at least one fan was a little disturbed by the Frankenstein’s monster version, which has a brain in place of Bulbasaur’s bulb. Fellow Pokemon players seem excited about the idea of potential holiday-themed Pokemon, pointing out that Pokemon GO has done similar things in the past. One player suggested a Halloween-themed Pokemon game where each starter is a variant with a spooky twist, which MunchyKu seemed to also like. Others suggested that it would be fun to be able to dress up one’s Pokemon like this.

As the years have gone by in the Pokemon series, the developers have shown that they’re willing to shake things up for older Pokemon, creating new evolutionary forms and variants. It’s no wonder, then, that fans of the series are eager to see more of what could be done with classics like the starters from Pokemon Red and Blue, way back at the beginning of the series. While Mega Evolutions are returning in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, it seems unlikely that holiday variants will be on the agenda, but there’s always a chance in a future title.
