Warzone’s Season 6 Update is Making It Harder to See

Key Takeaways

  • Gun smoke has seemingly worsened in Call of Duty: Warzone following the Season 6 update.
  • While it appears worse than it is within the firing range, the increased smoke is problematic in areas like the Gulag.
  • As such, fans are frustrated (especially those on PC who lack aim assist), hoping for a patch that makes gun smoke less frustrating to deal with.

Call of Duty: Warzone fans are disappointed with the changes made in the recent Season 6 update, with thicker gun smoke making it extremely difficult for players to be able to see their surroundings. In fact, the issue seems to be more pronounced for Call of Duty: Warzone players on PC as the aim assistance on consoles makes it somewhat easier for console players to aim despite having limited visibility.

Call of Duty fans are eagerly waiting for the release of Black Ops 6, which is all set to make a series of interesting changes to the game’s mechanics. Before that, the developers released loads of new content in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone as part of the Season 6 update. While some of the changes have become quite popular, fans are not happy with the changes to the game’s smoke.

In a new post on the CODWarzone subreddit, user dinzyy highlights a frustrating issue with the latest Call of Duty: Warzone Season 6 update. The picture showcases how intrusive the smoke is in the current version of the game, making it close to impossible for the players to be able to see what is on the screen. The user shows the smoke from two guns to highlight the issue, with it clearly getting thicker in the second of the two images, which is presumably from the current Season.

Call of Duty: Warzone’s Season 6 Update Rekindles Aim Assist Debate

While this is an annoying issue for anyone to deal with, many highlighted that it affects players using keyboard and mouse way more. This is because aim assist can play a crucial role in circumventing situations like these, something PC players do not have access to. Call of Duty’s aim assist feature has been quite a controversial aspect of the game, and it seems like the recent update has reignited the debacle.

On the flip side, some players noted that this problem is a bit situational, as the gun smoke isn’t as bad as what it looks like in the post since it depicts a screenshot from the firing range. Apparently, the smoke is much more pronounced in the Call of Duty: Warzone firing range due to limited lighting. However, fans noted that the changes to the smoke have definitely caused issues in some locations, such as the Gulag. So far, the developers have not responded to the issue, but hopefully a fix is released soon.
